Event Profile
The Hanover Sights & Sounds Festival’s inaugural year was 2005, since that first year
the Festival has grown in events and in tourism attraction. Sights & Sounds has been
recognized as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events for two years and has
been awarded for the best virtual campaign in 2009. Sights and Sounds is a fun filled
family weekend offering a relaxed, leisurely atmosphere with a cultural flair and
lasting memories for the whole family. Our Festival offers many different activities
that offer something the whole family will enjoy, attracting over 6,000 participants
during the three days. Festival organizers are committed to achieving goals for
growth and attractions annually.

The Hanover Sights and Sounds Festival will facilitate a unique celebration of diverse
entertainment experiences for the community and tourists.

• To create an innovative and unique entertainment experience.
• To foster a friendly community spirit, fellowship and involvement.
• To provide opportunities for local musicians and performers to participate and
showcase their talents.
• To present musicians and performers from outside of the community to broaden
audience taste and experience.
• To give local not-for-profit groups a venue for raising funds.
• To create a greater awareness of Hanover and increase tourism.

Event Goals
Growth – Become the annual summer festival of choice for Hanover and Area
residences. Growing in attendance each year and continue being a tourism draw.
Experience – Create a festival that is a diverse, unique experience that will appeal
to wide family demographic. Revitalize the festival each year by changing, adding
or improving a minimum of one event.
Fundraising – Create opportunities for local not-for-profit groups to raise funds.
Economic Impact – The Hanover Sights and Sounds Festival will have a positive
economic impact on local businesses by including and partnering with them in the
festival.
Financial – To continue being a self-sustaining Festival; planning responsibly with
the development of a contingency fund in preparation for a year with inclement
weather that affects the Festivals ability to raise funds.
Sponsorship – Achieve the annual support of local businesses and organizations.

Marketing Objectives
To generate awareness and inspire interest, ultimately motivating people to attend
the festival, done in a creative and strategic manner.
The marketing objectives in 2010 are to focus on the region of Grey and Bruce
counties, within a 45 - minute radius surrounding Hanover, while also creating a
strong community commitment to the festival.
The long-range marketing objective will be to attract tourism to Hanover. This will
then see a broadening of the marketing initiatives in Grey Bruce and beyond.

Event Location
Sights & Sounds is held in the beautiful town of Hanover, Ontario, Canada (population
6,585). The town of Hanover is located in the heart of the spectacular Georgian
Lakelands on the Bruce-Grey County’s border. Hanover is situated at the junction of
Grey Road #4 (formerly Provincial Highway #4) and Grey County Road #10.
