For us, this is just 2010, but for Chesley, Ontario country artist Tim Archer, this is his year.  With summer tour dates filling up, an album in the works, a recent digital distribution launch, and his sights set on a Canadian Country Music Association showcase, Archer has his fuse lit, his gun loaded, and is ready to dance.

Since his self-titled album of covers in 2000, Archer has made huge strides as a songwriter, with every song an intense, introspective process.

“If it doesn’t move me, I don’t record it,” says Archer.

His well-received 2010 album, Blue of The Sky, was the product of this philosophy, with eleven tracks that stitched every emotion to his sleeve.  From the heartfelt title piece and upbeat Cheatin’ On Me to the reflective instrumental Will’s Song, Archer’s expansion into songwriting has both strengthened his connection to existing fans, and forged new ones.

A recognized singer from the age of sixteen, Archer’s career took him to Nashville, where he parlayed a visit to Loretta Lynn’s ranch – and an impromptu duet with Patsy Lynn – into a sponsorship to sing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry.

After receiving encouragement that night from the late Skeeter Davis, Archer blazed through Nashville, performing at several hotspots, and singing with Jerry Lee Lewis’ cousin, Phoebe, and The Kentucky Head Hunters.  A chance encounter even saw him performing for Lorrie Morgan, daughter of late Grand Ole Opry star George Morgan.

Since then, the current of raw emotion in his charismatic performances has continued to draw out smiles, laughter, and even tears from inspired audiences.

During an appearance at Delaware Speedway (Delaware, ON), Archer’s powerful a capella renditions of the Canadian and American national anthems shocked race fans from both sides of the border, filling them with an unexpected overwhelming pride – some to the point of smiling through tears as the songs moved them.

Supporters from Great Britain, Australia, the United States, and Canada have all congregated around his music, particularly Blue of the Sky, a song expressing the endless love that Archer’s father had for his wife.

At the request of fans, the 2009 holiday season was capped off with the successful release of I’ll Be Home, a Christmas album.

Archer has a strong online presence and has held ground in the top twenty on the country music charts at Reverbnation.com, amongst acts like Sugarland, Trisha Yearwood, and Kenny Chesney.  His fan following extends to CMT online, where he is a member, and he has been profiled on the CCMA website.

Set to tour across Canada, Archer is adding more fuel to the fire with what is anticipated to be a red-hot-shot of country talent.
